  • "Felton, Gus is leaving"(19)
  • Outcome
  • Felton (person on the left side) and his mom ( person on the right side)  are talking about him doing things he didn't agree to. He also hears his mom talking about his best friend Gus. So he goes upstairs to see what's up.
  • Initial Dialogue or Event
  • When Felton gets up the stairs he saw his mom with a sad look on her face. She told him to sit down, then informed him that his best friend Gus was leaving for the summer. Felton was devastated and shocked because Gus didn' tell him anything about it.
  • Propels the Action By
  • "Do you know your mom called here... then maybe you know that me and my Daddy are comming over to your house this afternoon"(Aleah 72)
  • Felton doesn't have many friends, which makes his best friend leaving is a big deal. Hanging out with Gus is one of the main things Felton does. Also, Felton doesn't really like his family. So he has been doing lots of sitting in his bed watching tv, instead of hanging out with Gus. Felton was doing Guse's paper route though.
  • Outcome
  • Felton was doing his morning paper route when he heard beautiful music coming from Gus's house. When he got off his bicycle to deliver the papers to Gus's house the music stopped and a beautiful African American teenage girl stepped out.
  • Felton met Aleah and she told him that she and her father were going over to Felton's house later to help his brother improve his piano skills.
  • "I do. I’m going to deliver my newspapers, Aleah". “And you know my name?” she said. “I do, I’ll see you later.” I turned, dropped my bike, got on, and pedaled away. “Wait” she called. “I don’t know your name.” “Felton” I called back.”(page 72)
  • When Aleah came over to Felton’s house, to help his little brother, Aleah and Felton really hit it off. They could not keep their eyes off each other. So much so, that they exchanged numbers. Now, instead of only emailing Gus and doing his paper route, Felton texts and meets with Aleah. If Aleah and Felton had never met, Felton’s life may have remained static.
