Storyboard Text

  • Sure.  Be careful on that horse Jim.  You look unsteady.
  • Do you want a ride to Russian Peter's?
  • Thank you, sir!
  • We can find out if their holes run straight down or horizontal!
  • Aaaaah!
  •  Antonia and Jim are friends.  Antonia is going to Russian Peter's to retrieve a spade.  Jim loves to hang out with Antonia but sometimes feels like she takes a superior tone with him.  He hopes to be treated like an equal.
  • What is it?
  • When they get to Russian Peter's they warm up by his kitchen stove.  Soon they get the spade and are on their way.
  • I never knew you were so brave!
  • I killed him with the spade.
  • On the way back, Antonia has the idea to stop at Prairie-dog town.  She wants to dig into the prairie dog's hole.
  • Impressive!
  • Then he hit it right over the head.  The snake was dead in a second!
  • When they get to Prairie-dog town, Antonia and Jim search for the perfect hole to dig into.  Prairie dogs scurry all around.  Suddenly Antonia spots a snake behind her friend.
  • Jim turned around and attacked the snake hitting it in the neck.  Next, he hit the snake across the head until it fell into a heap at his feet.  Antonia came up and began to praise him for his actions.
  • After that Jim and Antonia head back.  While Jim shows off his dead snake to his friends and neighbors, Antonia tells of the ordeal to the other people with great color.  Jim is happy because Antonia now respects him for his heroic actions.
