Women were not giving the same educational opportunities as men during the colonial period. Women were taught household skills such as nursing, cooking, and spinning while the boys were taught academics. Eventually wealthy boys went off to boarding school where they were taught advanced academics. Higher education was not considered important for women at the time. In this storyboard, a girl is frustrated that she can't be taught the same as the boys.
