  • Mrs. Mallards sister, Josephine, tells her of her husbands death, which brought her to sobbing uncontrollably.
  • Free! Body and soul free!
  • I'm fine, my god I am fine
  • Mrs. Mallard goes to her bedroom and gazes out the window, still very upset. Mostly by the thoughts consuming her.
  • The whole world seemed brighter. The air was crisp and clean, the sparrow was singing, and the sky was a bright blue. Mrs. Mallard was seeing things in a different light.
  • Honey I'm home..... oh dear God.
  • Mrs. Mallard realizes that she is free. She is her own woman and is no longer tied to a man.
  • Josephine begs her to come out and to her surprise her mourning sister is doing quite well, so they head downstairs.
