Odysseus left for war 20 years ago, he was supposed to arrive at his destination a couple weeks from when he left. On his way, he gets his ship wrecked by Poseidon who is angry at him. He later had to swim for 2 days until he reached an unknown land.
Return to Ithaca
Odysseus and his comrades are on an island with sheep and goats. They are trapped by a cyclops and need to escape. There is a boulder blocking them from escape while the cyclops is eating people.
The Contest of the Bow
Aeolus gave them bag of winds to be opened when they get home. The crew was foolish enough to open the bag, which led them back to him. He refused to help because he thinks that he is unlucky. Circreat first thinks that they are bad and turns his crew into pigs. Odysseus convinces her to let them free and they win hospitality for an entire year.
The Death of the Suitors
Odysseus finally makes it back home where he is met with Athena who updates him on what is currently going on. She tells him to disguise as an old beggar because it would be easier to win the battle for his throne. She also tells him that many suitors want Penelope.
The suitors are all in a contest to win Penelope. They have to string Odysseus’ bow in order to win. All of the suitors attempt to do it, but they all fail until one old beggar takes a shot. This was Odysseus, and he strung the bow through the axes.
Odysseus kills all of the suitors that are trying to take his kingdom. He finally reunites with Penelope. This all takes place on Apollo’s feast day, at the Palace Hall.
