This is Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. He is one of the most famous people in black history. He fought for equal rights, he believed that everyone should be treated the same and no one different. "In the fall of 1958, Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., a twenty-nine-year-old minister in Montgomery, Alabama, who had recently risen to national prominence as a civil rights activist" (89)

James Earl Ray was in and out of jail for petty crimes like robbery and such. James Earl Ray is responsible for the assassination of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. as he fled the country, brought back, plead guilty to murdering Mr. King, sentenced to 99 years in prison, died of Hepatitis C.

The theme in the book is fighting against racism. This shows in the book because our main caracter Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. is fighting against racism along with a bunch of other people that are black, white, Indian, and so amny more races.

Rosa Parks was a big factor in the movement. Back then, if a black person wanted to ride the bus, they would have to give up their spot to a white person. Not Rosa Parks, Rosa was sick of this law, so she stood up for what is right, but she got herslef arrested for it.
Another very famous thing that happened during the movement was the sit down from 3 college black students sat in a whites-only area of a dinner and refused to move.
Rby Nell Bridges was the first black person to go to a white school. Ruby was hated by a big portion of white people, and most of them threatened to kill her in so many harmful ways.
