There was a semi-barbaric king and he had an area. People would have to go there if they did something wrong. They would have to pick a door to go to to chose their fate.
The princess is in love with a poor young man and her father, the king does not know that she is in love. The king probably would want his daughter to marry someone with money. This became the problem in the story.
The king does not like that his daughter, the princess is in love with a poor man. His daughter is not happy when her father did not approve of their relationship. So the king puts her lover in the arena to chose whether the lives or dies.
Her father puts her lover into the arena so he could live and marry another women or die by a tiger. The princess knows what is behind each door. So he asked the princess what door to go to cause he thinks that she knows what is behind each door.
The princess tells her lover to go to the door on the right. So he went with his lover's decision with the door on the right. He did this because he wants to go with her heart because he loves her.
We do not know what comes out of the door because the author wants you to decide what happens. He wants you to wonder if the lady or the tiger came out of the door. The author did this to see what you would do in that situtation.
