Instead of driving her to school, Bigger, Jan and Mary all go to eat and talk. Bigger tells them a little about himself and they want to be friends. They also have plans on going to Detroit the following day.
After dropping Jan off, Mary starts a conversation with Bigger, but he thinks she's trying to be funny.

Because she's intoxicated, Bigger takes Mary to her place. Then her tries to seduce her. Then her mother, Mrs. Dalton, who is blind, interrupts them, so he covers her mouth with a pillow so that she can't be heard.
