- An Uneasy Peace
- Hey, Let's come to an agreement!

- You Acadians are allowed to practice Catholicism
- We will also sign the oath to declare our loyalty to the British king, George II.
- In 1730, the British and the Acadians finallycame to an agreement. The Acadians were a bit confused and suspicious after all that happened.
- As part of our agreement, you Acadians will not have to fight with the British against France!
- The British allowedthe Acadians to practice Catholicism. The Acadians were very happy.
- Mom, are we called the neutral French?
- Yes sweetie, we are.
- The Acadians signed an oath declaring theirloyalty to the British King, George II which had made the British very happy.

- As partof the agreement, the British agreed thatthe Acadians would not have to fight withthe British against France.
- Thereafter, theybecame known as “the neutral French.”
- Thepeace, however, was an uneasy one. They still did indeed had some problems with each other.
