Chapter 15 - The Rustwater Marshes
Is it... dead?
A town just ran over him. I shouldn't think he's very well...
Flying away from AirHaven, Hester tells the story of how she knows Shrike. Shrike found Hester after she ran away from home due to the loss of her parents. He took it upon himself to care for her. While Hester tells Tom her story, Tom maneuvers the plane to the ground so that they can get out. They send the empty plane back into the sky in an attempt to trick Shrike.
Chapter 16 - The Turd Tanks
I heard shouting and I ran to help, but with all the smoke and stuff...
Back on London, Katherine goes to meet with the Lord Mayor. When she asks Crome about her father and MEDUSA. Crome mocks her. Offended and upset, Katherine vows to figure out the truth, even if it requires a little rule breaking.
Chapter 17 - The Pirate Suburb
This bloke's a High London gentleman. What did you want to go slinging a gentleman like this in the lockups for?
Tom and Hester's plan to trick Shrike only buys them a few hours and they are soon caught in the middle of the Rustwater Marshes. Luck on their side, a town drives through just in time and crushes Shrike. Soon enough a second town, Turnbridge Wheels, comes through in pursuit of the first. Tom and Hester jump on and Shrike gets and extra squish. Their luck soon runs out and Tom and Hester realize they've boarded a pirate city. That and Shrike is still alive, unbeknownst to them of course.
Chapter 18 - Bevis
Blimey! How do you know about MEDUSA? Nobody's supposed to know about that!
Continuing her quest for the truth, Katherine travels into a place of The Gut called "Section 60". She's looking for the apprentice who witnessed Hester's fall. She learns that "Section 60" is a horribly abusive place where they turn human waste into edible bars. She meets the apprentice she's looking for, Bevis Pod. He won't give her any extra information, so she vows to get her father's help in Section 60, cause he's such a kind guy.
Could you tell me everything you remember?
Tom and Hester find themselves in a familiar situation. Trapped on an unfamiliar and dangerous city. Luck somehow finds them again as Hester know the Mayor of Turnbridge, his name is Chrysler Peavey. Hester convinces Peavey to let them out as Tom is a "true London gentleman" just like Peavey wants to be, so Tom can obviously teach him, but only if they're set free.
London fins itself being chased by another town, but life continues. Katherine receives a letter telling her to meet up for lunch. She soon realizes it's Bevis. Bevis supplies Katherine with two big pieces of information. Hester didn't take Tom down with her, and there is a place called "K Division where they are resurrecting people, just like Shrike. Bevis also admits he's heard of MEDUSA but doesn't know what it is. This leaves Katherine even more curious.
