  • Nelson grew up in South Africa and was the son of their tribes chief. His father died and he was sent to get an education to become a lawyer for non-whites in the future.
  • Police and Government
  • Don't you dis obey me, I will arrest you and beat you.
  • Nelson was standing up for non-white South Africans and equality between all races. He protested the inequality between whites and non-whites.
  • Mandela Release and Accomplishments
  • Police were mistreating blacks and non-whites that were under apartheid. The police beat or killed blacks for protesting and going against the government or what they say. The government made the non-whites live in special communities away from whites and the living situations were really bad.

  • Government and Police arrested blacks for treason and said they were dangerous. One of those many people arrested Nelson Mandela was sentenced to life in prison. While in prison Mandela was working with the ANC. Soon after Mandela was imprisoned the ANC was shut down.
  • ANC is back, and abolished apartheid. Nelson Mandela was let free from prison and is setting his life up to be the best it can be. Nelson became president and was a great leader for South Africa. Nelson then won the Nobel Peace Prize.
