Once Gilgamesh found Uta-napishti, he told Gilgamesh if he wanted to prove he was worth immortality he must stay awake for a week. He failed miserably and slept for a week.

Gilgamesh asked Enkidu to get something from the underworld for him and warned him to not where his clothes for they would know he was a stranger. Enkidu did not listen and was caught. The spirit of Enkidu floated up from the underworld and talked to Gilgamesh.
