Storyboard Text

  • Telling his traumatic story to others
  • I'm going to tell you the story of how I survived a great typhoon.
  • flashbackk..... i remember it like it was yesterday:
  • In the eye of a typhoon
  • flashback..... :
  • I was with my best friend K. in the dyke at the beach, in the eye of a typhoon
  • We didn't even say a word.
  • I wanted to go get him and get him out of there, but my fear took control of my legs and sent me running the other way, leaving him with the big wave coming.
  • K.  being swept away  by the tsunami
  • K. runnnnnn the wave is comingg!!! What are you doing??
  • This scene is when the  man tells all the story he had gone through when he was a child. He was like in those support group circles and he tells them about his best friend K. and when the typhoon, earthquake and tsunami hit where he lived.
  • Waking up in his father's clinic
  • K. and him went to the beach while they were on the eye of the typhoon. They didn't even say a word to each other. Then a tremendous earthquake hit them.
  • Going to Nagano
  • K. happened to be focused on something, really close to the water, after a really hard earthquake, came a tsunami and he got swept away. While they both got beaten down by the wave, K. stared at the boy and just smiled and his body never was found, neither his dog's body got found .
  • Re-visiting the place where it all happened
  • He woke up in his father's clinic, a neighbor had seen  him and rescued him.  He had been asleep for three days. He was really sick and had to stay in bed for a whole week on a liquid diet.
  • He went to live in Nagano in January to live with his father's family in a mountain village near Komoro. He couldn't live where he would keep thinking that K. died. He was living with the thing called "survivor's guilt". He was falling in like a depression, he had to go away to feel and get better. He couldn't live with himself.
  • After some years of not coming back to his home, he revisited  his home village.  His father had died of cancer. After a lot of years of not touching or going to the beach, when he came back he went to the beach like an act of reconciliation with the beach.
