Storyboard Text

  • Unit: Evolution
  • Focus Question: How does natural selection lead to adaption in population?
  • Adaptation
  • Enviroment: Organism: Bat Adaptation: Sonar Adaptation type: Physical
  • Principle 1: Genetic Variation
  • A mutation, or genetic change can help an organism to survive and reproduce. But also the organism who are the fittest area also most likely to survive and have offspring.
  • Principle 2: Overproduction and the Struggle to survive
  • How does this adaption increase the organism's fitness? The high pitch sound allows them to navigate and locate their food.
  • Principle 3: Survival and Reproduction of the Fittest
  • Describe the genetic variation variation within the population HERE he difference between vampire bat and a regular black bat is their color. The vampire bat feeds primarily on the blood of other mamals. While normal bats eat inscets and fruits.
  • Principle 4: Changes in the Gene Pool
  • Describe the genetic variation within the population HERE  Bats have many predators and a snake is one of them. While the bat is sleeping the snakes crawls up and eats them to death.
  • Describe the survival and reproduction of the fittest within the population HERE The bats who have the best hearing are the ones who are most likely to survive, Also during the cold of they have stored fat they are also most likely to surive.
  • Describe the resulting changes in the gene pool of the population HERE  The ones who are healthy and have good hearing are able to reproduce and pass on their traits to their offspring.
