Proctor is outraged about the craze sweeping the town, and he tells Elizabeth that Abigail promised that the dancing had nothing to do with witch craft. Elizabeth tells him that he should testify this in court. Proctor then tells her that he would not be able to prove these allegations because Abigail told him this information when they were alone together. Hearing this causes Elizabeth to lose faith in proctor. Proctor demands that she stop judging him and that he feels like his own home is a court. Elizabeth responds to this by telling him that the only court is in his heart.
