  • I lived in Assyrians for a long time.

  • Over a thousand years a go Sumer was a land of independents city states. Then around 2300 B.C.E the Akkadians from northern Mesopotamia conquered the land. Sargon was both a strong king and skilled general who built his own empire. After Sargon put together a large army he taught his soldiers to fight formations. The large army the king put together defeated city-state of Urak, and Sargon gain control of all of Mesopotamia including sumer. Sargon maintained control of his empire by using very clever political strategies. Sargon lived to be a very great age he and Akkadians created the worlds first empire.

  • Babylonian Empire thrived Hammurabi. The city of Babylonian was on the banks of Euphrates river. It became very important to trade there.  Babylonian traded gain,woven, cloth for wood, gold, silver, precious gems, and livestock (animals). Babylonian traded through out the Persian gulf. Trading helped the empire's economy. Babylonian society was unusually fair for it time slaves had rights.  Babylonian women also had more right than other ancient societies. Women could own property and keep money.

  • The Assyrians had lived in Mesopotamia for a long time. When Assyrian rulers began training an army for war they rose to the power again toward 900 B.C.E . The Assyrians were scard for their military might and their cruelty. Their greatest achievements were their new weapons and war strategies. They had perfected the horses.

  • After one fall of Nineveh the Babylonians took control of Mesopotamia again. Then made a new name called Neo-Babylonians, and neo means new. The Neo-Babylonian only lasted 75 years because a new conqueror from Persian Empire named Cyrus swept into Babylon from the east. But before that the Babylonians were very skilled in mathematics and astronomy.  The hanging gardens of Babylon king Nebuchadnezzar rebuilt the cites ziggurats. 
  • The next of Mesopotamia was a king named Hammurabi. Hammurabi ruled Babylon. Hammurabi was known for the code of laws. The code was written from 1792 to 1750. Hammurabi believed that god had told him to create laws that applied to the entire empire. The code of laws were detailed and were put on a steel display. 
  • The code of Hammurabi is a law code from ancient Iraq. Hammurabi ruled Mesopotamia. The laws of code was created in 1750 B.C and lasted to 1686 B.C .
