  • Battle of Detroit
  • Battle of Frenchtown
  • Around June of 1812, James Madison (President of the United States during this time) gave in to political pressure and declared war on Great Britian.
  • Tecumsuh was killed
  • William Hull, an American general, surrendered to Isaac Brock and the British captured the village of Detroit.
  • Washington DC gets burnt
  • Americans were defeated by the British and native forces at Frenchtown. Surviving American forces were murdered in what is now known as the Raisin River Massacre.
  • Battle of New Orleans
  • America won the battle of Thames. The leader of the British native allies, Tecumseh was killed.
  • The British took over and destroyed Washington DC. The White House and other buildings burnt which was a huge defeat for America.
  • General Andrew Jackson led a successful campaign here. The victory boosted American morale.
