Swegles, Mullen, and Hughes met up in an apartment and tried to pick a date for the Lincoln job. They wanted it to be a night where there will be no one around, and no snow, or rain. They also didn't want to wait to weeks, they wanted this done fast. Someone suggested election night, which is November 7, just two days off.
Election night it is!
Mullen, Hughes, and Swegles, now are heading to Spring Field. Swegles explains, he will keep on the look out for anyone. Another roper, Billy Brown, was the man that would help break the lock to the tomb. But he bailed, since he didn't want to be involved in crime. Tyrell and his crew, were close behind on the next train.
Before they went to the cemetery, Swegles took the gang to some dinner so Tyrell could settle their first. Tyrrell's crew got there 2 hours earlier. Later in the night, the 3 men broke in and got into the catacomb. There, they headed towards Lincoln's body. They tried many different methods to open Lincoln's resting place, but the top wouldn't budge. But finally as they were about to open it, One of Tyrrell's member of his crew, George Hay accidentally shot his gun, and that alarmed the 2 Mullen and Hughes. They ran and ran, and the crew tried to catch them but they escaped.

Don't ... move.
Back in town, Tyrrell was worried that the 2 men, Mullen and Hughes, wouldn't turn up, but he knew they will. All criminals do, to get their things and leave for good. Swegles, tried his best to get in contact with both men, to help Tyrrell. After all, he was a roper. Tyrrell, tried to contact his boss, but he just thought everything was a story. Finally after weeks, Mullen popped up at the Hub, and met up with Swegles. He informed Tyrrell and Mullen was arrested.
Don't worry, they will turn up... they always do.
Mullen tried many different ways to contact Hughes. He tried letters, and even other 'useful' men, but he was always caught. Hughes finally turned, up having no word frm Mullen, and was finally arrested. They were sentenced a year in prison, but then let out. Fortunately, they came back to prison for their coney fake money making work, and were sentenced more years in prison.
