  • I learned that the capital of Alaska is Juneau. I also found out that three economic activities there are fishing, drilling for oil, and timber. The northernmost latitude of Alaska is 71N and the southernmost latitude is 51N.

  • Oregon
  • I have a question... Can you tell me a little bit about Oregon?
  • Sure. The capital of Oregon is Salem. 3 Economic activities of Oregon are outdoor gear/apparel, high technology, and mining metals. The northernmost latitude of Oregon is 46N and the southernmost latitude is 42N.
  • Washington
  • Washington... let's see. Its capital is Olympia.  Three economic activities here are producing milk, apples, and finance/insurance. Its northernmost latitude is 49N and its southernmost latitude is 45N.

  • Postcard:  Alaska has about 3 million lakes. The largest salmon ever caught was caught in Alaska. Alaska's largest lake is about the size of Connecticut.

  • The capital of Idaho is Boise. Three economic activities in Idaho are wool, mining silver, and potatoes. The northernmost latitude of Washington is 49N and the southernmost latitude is 42N.
  • Collage: Crater Lake is said to have come from an extinct volcano and is almost completely round. Mount Hood is the tallest point in Oregon. Columbia Gorge was formed by the Cascade River and has many waterfalls, including the 2nd largest in the country, Multnomah Falls.

  • The capital of Montana is Helena. Three economic activities there are harvesting wheat, flax, and mining gold. The northernmost latitude of Montana is 49N and the southernmost latitude is 44N.

  • The capital of Wyoming is Cheyenne. Three economic activities in Wyoming are beef cattle, coal, and soap. The northernmost point in Wyoming is 45N  and the southernmost point is 41N.
  • National Park: About 1% of Yellowstone is in Idaho, but there are still attractions there. Island Park, Idaho is the location of the Western Gateway into Yellowstone. Some famous places in Yellowstone are Inspiration Point and Yellowstone Plateau.

  • POI: The Montana Zoo includes a zoo and a sensory garden. There are animals here like the uromastyx lizard and the Canada Lynx. This amazing place has a 21-year-old monkey named "Samantha".
