  • The Mayan Indians
  • Farming was an important part of the Mayan civilization.
  • What was the Mayan's agriculture like?
  • 90% of Mayan people were farmers or helped with farming. The Mayans went through various droughts periodically and this may have caused their fall.
  • The Mayans had sturdy, and in some ways, large housing.
  • They were also long and wide with two sets of stairs.
  • Can you hear me???
  • Okay! Did you know that this is Mayan housing? Mayan houses were usually constructed of mud, stone, and wooden strips that were woven tightly together.
  • Yes!
  • The Mayan people were very unique. From their agriculture to housing, to clothing, to ceremonies, they certainly set themselves apart from other Indians.
  • The Mayans clothing was colorful and loose.

  • The Mayan Indians did gruesome things at their ceremonies.
  • There are so many scary stories about the Mayans. Did you know that they practiced human blood sacrifices? The Mayans also would cut the tongue, pierce their ears, and for a living sacrifice, rip out the heart.

  • Did you know that the Mayans wore loose garments with a belt or sash and added fabric or scarfs to hang over them? They wore colorful patterns and exotic colors.
  • These clothes remind me of the Mayan's clothing.

  • Gross!
  • The Mayan people's agriculture, housing, clothing, and ceremonies set them apart from others. They had different ways of living, such as studying the stars and trying to figure out the meaning of things instead of waging war agenst every tribe they met. This makes them special.
