It was a wonderful summer day, on the 27th of June, the people of the town gathered around for their annual lottery. (Setting)Mood: In the beginning, its happy and calm, but as the story progresses, it becomes anxious, dreadful and violent.Characters: Tessie Hutchinson. Old Man Wagner, Mr.Summers, Bill Hutchinson, Bobby and Harry Jones and Dickie Delacroix.
The people picked their own slips of paper, but their eyes were on Bill Hutchinson. The paper Bill took had a black dot on it. His wife Tessie, explained how this was not fair. She also said that Bill did not get enough time to choose the paper he wanted.
The Hutchinson family members were called up to the black box with the paper slips. Bill, Tessie, Bill Jr., Nancy, and Little Davy, who's only a toddler. Mr.Summers placed five slips of paper into the black box, even the one Bill pulled.
Each member of the chosen family, the Hutchinsons, is required to select one paper in the box. Unfortunately, Tessie selected the slip of paper that had the black dot on it.
Tessie explains how it's not fair, it's not right. The people begin to form a circle around Tessie, while grabbing the stones they gathered. Everyone wants this over with before noon diner.
As Tessie screams, a stone hits her head on the side. Old Man Wagner, whom is the oldest man of the town, almost cheers on the people. The people continue to throw stones at Tessie Hutchinson.
