WOW! I'm so excited to be in my new school. It would be nice to make new friends.
Scene 2: Greetings
Why is his skin so pale?
Good Morning, class and welcome to a new term. I hope you all had a wonderful holiday. Joining us at Westbrook High, we have Haruto an exchange student from China.
His name is Haruto, make him feel welcomed.
Hello Haurto
I wonder what I did wrong
Scene 3: You don't belong here
You can't be friends with us, we don't want you to infect us with the Corona Virus
Your eyes looks funny
Go back to China, you're not welcome here
The Corona Virus pandemic has slowed down due to the availability of vaccinations. Haruto is an exchange student who moved from China to America with his family mainly for the sole purpose of education. The term "racial identity" refers to a person's sense of self as it relates to racial group membership.
Scene 4: Loneliness
This is not fair. Why would my peers discriminate me just because of my nationality and physical looks. I hate it here!
Discrimination must be prohibited in any institution in accordance with race, color, religion and nationality.
Scene 5: Justice
Good Morning Mr Sam, ever since I got into Westbrook High my classmates always treat me unfair. It gets me upset and I don't appreciate it at all.
This behavior is not acceptable. I apologize for the mistreatment. I promise to end this racist behavior.
It has been brought to my attention that a new student of ours has been experiencing racism
Racism, also known as racialism, is the belief that humans can be divided into distinct biological entities known as "races."It is known that racist language and racial stereotyping have been used against Chinese students.
Scene 6: Awareness
RACISM AND BULLYING IS PROHIBITED AT WESTBROOK HIGH!!!
Institutional racism occurs when organizational policies and practices systematically discriminate against people of some racial group or groups. Discrimination can trigger stress responses similar to those seen in post-traumatic stress disorder which can have an effect on the education of a child.
Racial justice is the fair treatment of people of all races in a structured way that results in equal opportunities for all. Prejudiced attitudes play a role in difficult intergroup relations in schools. Staffs and representative members of schools need to be alert of such racist behaviors to prevent other incidents on students.
Discrimination can be reduced but not totally eliminated. Staff and students are aware of what is expected of them. We must recognize that discrimination exists in society at large, and that it can lead to bullying in schools. Reports of this type of behavior should be taken very seriously, and this type of behavior will not be tolerated.
This behavior is prohibited and can lead to expulsion. Treat people equally.
