Storyboard Text

  • The damn fool had made something so alien to this great country, so un-communist, that it could not be shown to the public. Who knows how they would have reacted to such a heinous act when it was suppose to be a celebration of our victory.
  • After years of success, Meyerhold faltered. He began work on a show intended to celebrate the October Revolution called "One Life." Upon review the Supreme Committee for the Control of the Arts deemed it needed massive adjustments.
  • December 1937, the "Pravda" published an article condemning Meyerhold as a traitor to our lands. His theater was called "Alien," and less than a month later was closed!
  • CLOSED FOR GOOD
  • "One Life" by Meyerhold, anti-communist and disgrace to USSR!!!
  • Any pic of his play
  • “I want to burn with the spirit of the times. I want all servants of the stage to recognize their lofty destiny. I am disturbed at my comrades’ failure to rise above narrow caste interests which are alien to the interests of society at large. Yes, the theatre can play an enormous part in the transformation of the whole of existence.”
  • Out of work, dishonored, and bitter, when speaking at the All-Union Conference of Stage Directors in June 1939, the traitor sealed his fate. His betrayal shall not be forgotten and he shall be made a lesson of to all those that oppose and disrupt our great nation!
  • Shortly after returning to Moscow, the NKVD arrested Meyerhold for libel against our great country. Later he confessed to being a dirty spy for Japan and Britain.
  • I'm not a spy! I swear!
  • In July 1939, Meyerhold's wife, Zinaida Raikh, was killed in their home...
  • ...In February 1940, Meyerhold was executed for his crimes against our great country.
  • And this, dear comrades, is why you do not oppose our great leader....
