Afterward, Robin is invited to a feast with the Sheriff. He goes into town, disguised again and towing a meat cart, and sets up shop next to the Guild Hall. He tricks the Sheriff into buying a deer instead of a cow for his feast, then escapes again.
Frustrated, the Sheriff shifts his plan of action one more time. He hires a professional thief named Guy of Guisbourne to murder Robin Hood. Robin defeats him in a close match. Then, he and the Merry Men defeat the Sheriff and other men sent by the King to eradicate the forest of outlaws.
Afterward, he is struck with fever. To heal, he seeks sanctuary at the home of his cousin, the Prioress of the Nunnery of Kirklees. Unbeknownst to Robin, the Prioress has caught wind of his identity, refuses to help, and lets him bleed to death.
