At the beginning of the story, a bloody captain tells the king about Macbeth's success during the battle. By listening the story about Macbeth, a good King, Duncan decides to give Macbeth the title of thane of Cawdor. He shows trust to Macbeth.

When Macbeth with Banquo returns from the battle they meet three witches who are looking in an unrealistic costumes. Especially, Banquo gets surprised seeing the witches and shows interest to them.
Lady Macbeth receives the letter from Macbeth
Great Glamis, worthy Cawdor, Greater than both, by the all-hail hereafter. I am afraid that you are too king to kill the king. I'll support you. I can do it for you.
From this scene, which the witches are telling Macbeth that he is the future king, you can know that Macbeth is not a person who easily trusts things or people. On the other hand, this scene shows the brightness of the witches.
