  • The crusades continued for the next hundred years, and some just were popular movements of poor people rather than an organized

  • Queen Isabella and King Ferdinand used their armies and the church court, the Inquisition, to convert the Muslims and Jews to Christianity.
  • The Impact of the Crusades on Christians
  • The Spanish Inquisition was extremely harsh, judges, Inquisitors, used torture to get information if supposed converts were practicing their old religion.  
  • The Impact of the Crusades on Muslims
  • King Richard was spent most of his reign on crusades and heavily taxed his people to fund his armies. Richard was devoted the knightly ideals of courage and hour.
  •  Monarchs grew more powerful as nobles and knights left home to fight. Christians learned about new foods and other goods.
  • For the Muslims, the Crusades were battles and massacres. They gained exposure to new weapons and military ideas, earned riches from trade with Europe.
