A fairly accurate example of a night in the Fenner household (except we are definitely not this respectful) with an evening full of tense political discussion, conflicting views, and sibling rivalry! Tune in as Ally Fenner and her brother argue about their beliefs on the topic of immigration while on opposite sides of the political spectrum.
It is a threat to our national security. I don't understand why America has to be the big brother that accepts everyone into our country.
Meanwhile, I believe that the United States should provide asylum to immigrants such as the Syrian refugees because we have the means to. I think it's unreasonable to not allow immigrants into the country based on the untrue assumption that they are all terrorists and criminals.
As for illegal immigration, I believe that we should not reward undocumented immigrants with citizenship. Anyone who breaks the law by entering the U.S. illegally or overstaying their visa should be deported.
I, however, support amnesty programs that help undocumented immigrants in good standing become citizens. I also believe that we need to improve the naturalization process to make it easier for foreigners to become citizens.
Immigration is such a huge part of American society, and it has been for decades. Immigrants contribute so much to the United States, and they don't get the recognition they deserve. Taking away immigration would be removing a monumental part of the American way. We share our history together.
Immigration does help America in many ways, but I also feel that stricter immigration policies will help keep Americans safer which should be the ultimate goal for the United States. Hug it out?
