  • Land Ho!
  • There is nothing left to eat...
  • In 1610,  Jamestown went through "The Starving Time¨. The food in the colony ran out and the settlers had to feast off of  rodents, cats, dogs, and leather.
  • Buffet
  • Why do we have to live here! There are so many bugs!
  • Since the people of Jamestown settled in  a swamp, there were many bugs  such as flies, larvae  of many kinds, and mosquitos. Mosquitos   were a very big issue during their colonization due to the diseases they would spread. Though this was an issue , the fertile soil made up for it.
  • During  the time of Jamestown's   colonization,  King James the first was the King of England. He allowed for some flexibility on the side of the colonists  but they still could not  defy him.
  • Our colonists may make their own laws, as long as they make me money of course.
  • The Jamestown colony's primary source   of  money, and therefore economy, was tobacco which is a cash crop.  In Europe, tobacco was used for healing wounds and for other medical purposes which were greatly needed.
  • Now we finally have something to sell! Our Tobacco plants are looking good!
  • Why is it surprising that Jamestown was a success?
  • Jamestown's fate was extremely  surprising  due to all of the events that happened prior. From death to being underprepared  Jamestown was a mess, but due to tobacco ,  Jamestown  was saved.
