  • On January 22, 1905, a group of workers led by a radical priest, Georgy Appolonovich Gapon, marched to the Czar's palace to protest the horrible working conditions and food shortages. The palace guards felt threatened by the protesters and open fired causing multiple casualties.
  • By 1917, most Russians had lost faith in the leadership ability in hte czarist regime. With all of the riots and protests, Czar Nicholas II felt he had no choice but to abdicate his role in the Russian Kingdom.
  • Peasants and farm workers overthrew the czar and replaced the Absolute Monarchy with a republic government led by Russian Nobles.
