Storyboard Text

  • Oedipus begins to recount his story of why he ran away from home to Jocaste. He still believes that Polybos and Merope are his parents but was shocked when he heard that they weren't. 
  • At a feast, a drunken man maundering in his cups cries out that I am not my father's son!
  • Oedipus goes to Polybos and Merope to confirm that he is their son. Polybos and Merope get angry over the question and insist that he is their son. 
  • The next day I visited My father and mother, and questioned them. They stormed, Calling it all the slanderous rant of a fool. 
  • Oedipus runs to a shrine because he has suspicions that Polybos and Merope weren't his true parents. However, he was told that he was to marry his own mother and murder his father.
  • The god dismissed my question without reply; He spoke of other things. 
  • To avoid his fate, Oedipus runs away from home and comes to the place where King Laios was killed. Oedipus is angered by King Laios' orders to force him off the road.
  • The groom leading the horses Forced me off the road at his lord's command; I struck him in my rage.
  • In a fit of rage, Oedipus kills King Laios. 
  • Out of his car, and he rolled on the ground. I killed him. 
  • Oedipus believes that it is highly likely that he killed King Laios, but he has still not found out that King Laios is his real father. 
  • Think of it: I have touched you with these hands, These hands that killed your husband.
