The discovery of gold interested the people of the world. These people from across the globe boarded ships and headed for San Francisco, California.
After the gold rush not a lot of people made it rich from gold. Most of the money made was from people selling supplies to the miners. The miners and people that came for gold stayed in San Francisco after the Gold Rush, expanding the city and California.
