Iago is enraged and convinces Roderigo collect money to go to Cyprus. He decides to use Cassio in his plot to convince Othello that Desdemona and Cassio are having an affair as revenge.
"I'll deceive Othello by telling him that Casio is too familiar with his wife."
Iago encourages Cassio and Desdemona to flirt to make his plot more believable. Iago tells Roderigo to start a fight with Cassio to get him demoted.
Cassio gets demoted. Iago tells him to see Desdemona and ask her to talk to Othello about regaining his position.
"She deceived her father by marrying you."
Iago tells Othello that Desdemona is cheating with Cassio.
Emilia steals Desdemona's handkerchief and gives it to Iago. Othello demands proof of the affair and Iago tells him that he saw Cassio wiping his beard with Desdemona's handkerchief.
Othello asks Desdemona for her handkerchief. She realizes she lost it and changes the topic to Cassio. This makes Othello extremely angry.
