Oedipus was born to a King and Queen. But King Laius was warned that if he had a son he would kill him and marry his wife. Once the child is born his ankles are pinned together and put him on a mountain to die due to the prophecy.
You are going to kill your father!
After the servant refuses to leave the new child on the moutain, the child is brought to the house of King Polybus and Merope of Corinth and is later adopted as their own.
While around the town Oedipus comes upo a drunk that imforms him that the King and Queen aren't really his parents.
As an infant, he crawls on all fours; as an adult, he walks on two legs; and in old age, he uses a walking stick.
What walks on four feet in the morning, two in the afternoon, and three at night?
Oedipus is told by an oracle that in the future he will kill his father and marry his mother.
When he arrives in Corinth, Oedipus sees a chariot, and inside is his birth father, who he later kills.
On his way through Thebes, Oedipus encounters a Spinx and is given a riddle. If Oedipus answers the riddle right he can pass the Spinx snd not be eaten or killed.
