  • Before the war, Great Britain had one of the best economies in the entire world.
  • Britain joined the war because Germany invaded Belgium, and under the Treaty of Versailles Britain had to protect Belgium. 
  • Battle of Somme
  • The Battle of Somme was the longest battle in WWI. Lots of men on both sides passed in this war. This battle was the bloodiest in WWI.
  • Women in the Workforce
  • Since all the men went to war there was no one to work in the factories, so women began to work in their place.
  • Women got the right to vote during WWI.
  • A positive impact was that women got more of a voice and gained some rights. They also gained more territory at the end of the war .
  • Negative impacts were that Britain was in lots of debt due to buying supplies from the us. Also there were lots of people grieving the loved ones they lost in the war.
