Gautama Siddartha was kept home by his parents when they were told their son would be the spiritual leader of the whole world.
Guatama soon discovered death, sickness, aged people, and a homeless man. He was shocked by his new discoveries.
I have discovered a new way to end suffering and to reach enlightenment!
Guatama was scared of being a part of life's suffering, so in order to avoid it, he became an ascetic for 6 years and only ate the seeds that fell on his lap. He became aware that he was not focused enough because of his hunger, so he ate a bowl of rice, which made the other ascetics believe he gave up.
I found a new way of escaping suffering!
Since being an ascetic didn't work, he was taken far away to a tree in which he meditated harshly to reach enlightenment for about 45 days. This work payed off and he became known as the awakened one and the Buddha.
He then told his old friends, the ascetics, of his story. They were shocked by Siddartha becoming the Buddha.
The ascetics and Siddartha spread his discovery throughout the world creating the religion Buddhism.
