A few dears later after her sun burn had healed, Shelly noticed her elbows, knees, and scalp had developed white patches that itched and bled.
Shelly was worried and asked her mom about it. Shelly's mom thought it was just severe dry skin, but to be safe they would take her to the doctor.
The doctor told Shelly that she had developed psoriasis due to her severe sunburn. Her skin cells built up rapidly on the surface of her skin because her immune system was trying to cure her sunburn, leading to white scaly patches.
Shelly was prescribed a topical cream to ease her psoriasis. She applied the medicine daily, and continued her training for nationals.
