The government of the Massachusetts Bay established in 1691 is flawed.
From now on, all future counselors will be chosen by the crown.
Additionally, the governor will now be able to appoint all judges, sheriffs, and other court officers or remove them at will.
The New England colonists were upset with this act because it placed restrictions on town meetings as well.
With the New Quartering Act, local authorities will be given the power to lodge British soldiers anywhere.
Anywhere?! What about our private homes?
Yes, to ensure the Governor has control, he will be able to house troops in private homes.
