  • The government of the Massachusetts Bay established in 1691 is flawed.
  • From now on, all future counselors will be chosen by the crown. 
  • Additionally, the governor will now be able to appoint all judges, sheriffs, and other court officers or remove them at will.
  • The New England colonists were upset with this act because it placed restrictions on town meetings as well.
  • With the New Quartering Act, local authorities will be given the power to lodge British soldiers anywhere.
  • Anywhere?! What about our private homes?
  • Yes, to ensure the Governor has control, he will be able to house troops in private homes.
