- The conflict is that love is considered a disease in their futuristic dystopian lives and when their 18 they undergo a procedure which basically makes them unable to feel but alex and lena end up falling for each other.

- Lena goes to a girls and boys party (which is illegal) to find Hana her best friend, but the police arrives and while trying to runaway a dog bites Lena in the leg and Alexs saves her, pulls her into a shed and cleans her leg up for her.
- Resolution
- The climax of the story is when Alex and Lena are discovered y the regulators in their secret hideout. Because (her best friend) Hana rats them out.
- They are caught by the regulators and lena is locked and tied up in room, she is being force to undergo the procedure to have her feeling removed and love in her heart. Hana tells alex and he goes to rescue her.
- Lena and Alex attempt a plan to escape together.
