Odysseus and his men were trying to sail back to Ithaca, but Athena had told him about the things that would happen, starting with the Sirens. They were mermaids that would sing and make the sailors jump off the boats. Odysseus wanted to know what it sounded like so he had his men tie him up, while they put wax in there ears. The next part is when they saw Charybdis create a giant whirlpool on the other side was a cave where Scylla was hiding. They could choose to all die or have some die. The steered towards the cave, and Scylla ate 6 men for each head she had. Then, they continue their journey to Ithaca.
Men, tie me up so I can listen to the singing Sirens.
Now, put this wax in you ears so you don't here the singing.
