When the Montresor runs into Fortunato and invites him in to his palace to try a bottle amontillado, but the bottle is in the catcomb and Fortunato seems ill.
The Montresor claims that Fortunato has insulted him and must get revenge on him. Even though the narrator never tells us what the insult was it tells us he will never forget
When the Montresor gets Fortunato to go down to the wine vault and to keep the suspense he asks Fortunato if he wants to go back because he looks but Fortunatodrinks the wine to make his cough feel better.
No one will ever hear you again...
The climax is when the Montresor chains Fortunato to the wall of the catcombs
The Fortunato is screaming for the Montresor to stop as he gets to his last few bricks. The Montresor does not care and does his revenge.
The Montresor leaves and only hears the ringing of the jester bells echoing in the tomb. At the end the Montresor claims that he has heard nothing for years and has gotten away with his revenge.
