The first step of cellular respiration is glycolysis. It produces 2 molecules of ATP in the cytoplasm of the cell.
The second step of cellular respiration is when the cell checks for oxygen. If there is oxygen then its aerobic respiration and if there's no oxygen, its anaerobic respiration.
In aerobic respiration, the cell produces 2 more ATP molecules during the Krebs Cycle. It then makes 32-34 more in the electron transport chain. This all happens in the mitochondria.
