I'm your narrator for today. Let's have a look back on the medieval period when the Black Death occurs in Europe.
THE BLACK DEATH
It started in year 1347, when the 12 ships from China docked at the Sicilian port of Messina.
Hurry up! The ships have arrived.
People got horrified when they saw most of the sailors were dead and some were gravely ill.
Can someone call the authorities?
How did this happen?
It has been said that the plague comes from the bacillus called Yersina pestis. That is transmitted from rodents to humans by the bite of infected fleas or rats.
The Black Death kill over 20 million people in Europe and almost 30% of the continent's population.
After that, it started the rebirth of Europe wherein new and high technology has been invented. In fact, the mechanical clocks and hourglasses was invented. Then, medicine was redirected into experimental and practical pharmacology.
