King Amulius viewed twins Romulus and Remus as a threat and so they were abandoned on the Tiber River to die.
The kings plan to kill the twins was unsuccessful and a she-wolf helped to raise Romulus and Remus until they were eventually discovered by the shepherd Faustulus.
Remus is captured and taken to the king where the twins learn of their true identity. King Amulius is slain and their grandfather, Nimitor, is named King again.
The brothers left Alba Longa to build a city of their own, only they could not agree upon the location. Remus liked Aventine Hill and Romulus wanted Palatine Hill.
The constant arguing between Romulus and Remus over who had a better hill eventually led to the killing of Remus by his own brother.
