Aphrodite was the goddess of love and beauty. She was often seen as a beautiful woman who was often naked. Her symbols included a dove, apple, scallop, and shell mirror.
Aphrodite was born in the ocean under the waves. She was an adult when she just appeared from the sea. She then drifted to the shore of Kythera which she then made her home.
Aphrodite's parents were Zeus and Dione. Zeus is the king of mount Olympus and Dione is a Titan goddess.
Aphrodite's family included her son Eros, the cupid and god of love, who she already had when she was born. Also Hephaestus, the god of blacksmiths and metalworking who was her husband. She married him because he promised to make her jewelry and expensive stones.
Although Aphrodite was married to Hephaestus, that didn't stop her from cheating on her husband with several gods. She had affairs with the gods Poseidon, Ares, Dionysus, and Hermes. She also did not limit herself to gods as she had affairs with mortals too like Anchises and AdonisWhen Hephaestus found out she cheated on him he was furious but he decided to stay married to her anyways.
Aphrodite had 15 children in total all with different fathers. Their names were Eros, Phobos, Deimos, Harmonia, Pothos, Anteros, Himeros, Hermaphroditus, Rhodos, Eryx, Eunomia, The graces, Priapus, Aeneas.
