Two examples of gravity and one of friction to better explain how they work.
The leaves are falling down to the ground instead of in the air due to the gravitational pull that pulls everything towards the center of the earth.
She is swinging from the rope into the water but before she jumps onto the rope, she needs to get a running start. This is possible because of friction and the grip from her shoes. If there was no friction she would slide and have no control.
She swings herself up with the force of her arms and then eventually falls down into the water because of gravity.
