Storyboard Text

  • Jonas has been selected as our next receiver of memory! Jonas has to begin his training as the next receiver and will take over when our current receiver get's released.
  • 1: Go at the end of school hours each day to the annex entrance behind the house of the old. 2: Go to your dwelling at the end of training. 3: You may be rude to people and ask any question and will receive answers. 4: Do not discuss training. 5: prohibited from dream telling. 6: do not apply for medication. 7: not allowed to apply for release. 8: You may lie.
  • Giver? Why aren't we allowed to make our own choices?
  • It had big wooden chairs with curved legs, while the dwelling usually had tall white chairs with straight legs. He also had books, thousand of books probably.  And his bed was big with curtains draping over it.
  • Giver? What is "seeing beyond" mean?
  • As Jonas layed on the bed, his back began to feel ¨cold¨. He was stunned and when he opened his eyes he saw white, pure white. He saw something in the white powdery surface. He looked at it then got on it. He could hear the giver tell him it was called snow. And the thing he found was a sled. He got o and rode down the hill with a big smile on his face.
  • Jonas believes the "sameness" in the community is what makes them not able to make their own choices.
  • The capacity to see beyond is the ability to use any of the senses that were present in the memories, but not in the community. For Jonas his ability to see color is him seeing beyond.
