  • Million Man March- In 1955, from 400,000 to 1.1 million people of all races marched a long way for equality and rights
  • I have a dream!
  • Montgomery Bus Boycott- African Americans boycotted for 13 months in 1955 until segregation on public buses was ruled unconstitutional
  • Obama Campaign
  • Freedom Riders- A group of Civil Rights Activists (both white and black) in 1961 rode buses into the segregated south to try and get no segregation everywhere
  • March on Washington- In 1963, More than 200,000 people gathered by the lincoln memorial to demand equality (MLK's speech)
  • Barack Obama Campaign- In 2008, the first African American was elected as president
  • Black Lives Matter Movement- In 2013, Alicia Garza, Patrisse Cullors, and Opal Tometi founded this movement against violence and racism
  • Black lives matter!
