Through his experience Siddhartha learned that giving up all necessities did not bring enlightenment. So he aimed to find a balance He would be neither a prince nor an ascetic. Instead he would seek a middle way as a path to enlightenment. Later the prince's new way of thinking caused the other ascetics to abandon him but he was happy to be alone.
i have reached nirvana. I have seen the goods
Although Siddhartha still had not found the path to enlightenment be believed that he was on the right path. On his 35th birthday Siddhartha bathed in the river and rested quietly in a grove of trees beneath a full moon. When he awoke he had a good feeling that he wold soon become enlightened.
I am buddha btw
Then a grass cutter granted him eight handfuls of soft grass as a present. Then Siddhartha waked until he reached a tree that is now known as Bodhi or enlightenment tree. Then he placed grass at the foot of the tree and sat down meditating under the tree until he reached enlightenment.
Just follow my teachings
according to Buddhist tradition, while Siddhartha was meditating a wicked god called Mara tried to frighten him. But Siddhartha resistied it all, he continued to meditate through the night thinking about nature, reality and a way to reach nirvana. Later at night his mind filled with the truths he had been seeking, he saw his past life the cycle of life and the importance of karma. He saw how to get freedom from the life cycle, and end all suffering.
By morning, the young prince had become the Buddha, the Awakened One. He had reached enlightenment.
The teachings that he tough were that if you followed the eight fold path you can end suffering and enlightenment
