I the Emperor, am simply a figurehead I lost all my power after the war.
I assumed all the emperors power and I am the governor general of the army.
I am a great land holder yet I also have lots of power.
Emperors were a lot like kings, accept they were religious leaders. Thats why when the power came to the Shoguns and Daimyos they didn't just simply kill the Emperor. Some even believed they were gods.
I have sworn my allegiance to the Shogun or a Daimyo and I am the great warrior of Japan.
The Shoguns were the leaders of the army the title was given to them by the Emperor even thought they had all the real power.
We work on the farm and make weapons for the Samuri
The Daimyos were large land owners, they were vassals to the Shogun. They were like Nobles to the king.
I am at the bottom of the hierarchy. My job is to trade goods with the Samurai and the daimyo.
In return for their loyalty the Shogun or Daimyo give them land grants. They also protect the peasants from harm and in return they work for them.
In return the Samurai gave them protection from bad Samurai and other unfriendly people or creatures.
At first Merchants were looked at as lying cheats who took honest peoples money. But after long pieces of peace they became one of the highest groups of the hierarchy in which they made most of their living off charging interest on the money they loaned to the Samurai and the farmers.
