Storyboard Text

  • Because of court officials' corruption, the Han Dynasty split into 3 groups battling for power. The peasants, the emperor's servants/body guards, and the court officials.
  • China was reunited by Emperor Wendi. Under his rule, art and culture flourished. He also restored some of the policies that made the Han Dynasty strong.
  • After the fall of the Sui Dynasty, the Tang Dynasty rose. One of their main incomes was trade. China was famous for their silk, which was how the Silk Road started.
  • The Grand Canal, a man-made river, was made by the Tang Dynasty. It helped with trade, as they were able to import goods faster and cheaper.
  • The Song Dynasty, the kingdom that came after the Tang Dynasty, created the idea of civil service exams, tests that men had to pass in order to work in the government.
  • During the Han, Sui, and Tang Dynasty, the government had either been Confucianism or Daoism. The Song Dynasty created the idea of Neo-Confucianism to rule their kingdom.
